To build an aeroplane – any suggestions?

Okay, let’s say I wanted to build an aeroplane – a replica of a British designed and built aircraft. It has to be a simple monoplane in the same category as the Luton Minor. Single Engine. Wooden construction. Homebuild design. Single seater. Plans must be available and the aircraft must be a dodo – with no surviving examples. Oh, and the aircraft must be PFA friendly.

Question: can anyone suggest an aircraft which they believe would be suitable for a replica rebuild. Think simple.

Now that looks like a bit of fun, cleveland 200? any idea of the manufacturer?

Its actually a new design from the fertile imagine of Lynn Williams- the designer of the Staaken Flitzer mentioned earlier in the thread – and wont be available as plans for a while yet. In fact I dont think its more than a few sketches at present but could not resist sharing the drawings.

How about one of these. British designed and none exist.

Wow, what is it? Looks pretty simple to build, wouldn’t mind having a go myself if i had an airfield nearby and some money

Watch him Bod – looks like he wants a Squadron – now a squadron of Luton Minors would be very entertaining…..you wouldnt know if they were retreating or advancing…just kinda hanging there…!

Sorry, not such a quick response as you expected. But an interesting idea. A Balbo of Minors? hmmmm

Would make Diamond Nine look like a fast jet team in comparison.

I think we’d only get one flypast in during the course of any airshow slot!

It also presupposes that we could get every VW, JAP and baby Lycoming to start on the same day!

Has your Uncle still got the plans for his Flambards TV replicas Bod?

You can ask him tomorrow! more than likely although the full size for Flambards were only ground taxiable and not flyable! althought the basis would be there!!!

Maybe not ! The Staaken Flitzer is a PFA machine as was the Fairey Flycatcher replica
so it’s a pretty broad church.

You need to start on the PFA list and eliminate those that do no meet your criteria (which is most!)

http://www.pfa.org.uk/aircraft_technical/accepted_aircraft/aircrafttypelist.pdf

Which ones match?
