Hi there.
I remember reading in Flightpath or Classic Wings Downunder years ago about the two A-20s recovered from PNG and restored in Australia.
The old “tip” at the former Tocumwall RAAF base was raided for various parts and the armament for one of the A-20s. I only recall seeing photos of the .50s they dug up before and after, but cannot seem to find any online reference about it apart from a vague mention on ozatwar.com.
One of the A-20s which was restored was a USAAF Havoc called Hell ‘n Pelican.
Anyone have any pictures of the restoration showing the condition of these dug up 50 cals or of the aircraft themselves?
Cheers

Dusting off the shovel are we? 🙂
Not quite, more like gathering precedents from 1960 through to present day for an online article.
