Whilst on the subject of Air Atlantique, see below, on the GA forum…

…here are some photos taken today at Northern Warwickshire’s favourite international Dakota terminal. As you can see, spring has brought a wash of colour, whether it is daffodils around the Prentice or some new roundels appearing on G-AMPY (the C-47 about which you may have heard a lot from myself and John C recently, it should be ready to take passengers before too long), preparations are being made for the ‘Classic Flight experience day’ in just over a week’s time 🙂

Pleasure flying in a DC6….. you never know, currently you would have to bring your own seats, and windows for that matter. However, imaginative ways to keep the ‘sixes FLYING into the future are being considered so watch this space 🙂
PS.. I thought I should add that Dragon Rapide G-AGTM’s mishap was with a previous operator (I think when it played the part of a Royal Navy Dominie in attractive silver with roundels), prior to her subsequent overhaul and dark blue paint scheme!
Greg.. now is a good time for some relaxing Twin Pinning around the sky, she has a freshly refurbished interior, hope to see you soon!

Hiya guys, i’m sure this question has been asked to death but will the DC6s ever do pleasure / passenger flights?. i’d love to have a flight in one of these. i’ve had the pleasure of flying in two of the AA DC3s (both twice) and have flown in G-AGTM (before her accident at DUX) and will hopefully be adding to my logbook in the twin pin someday too.
best regards.

No Worries Roger – Da’quake isn’t at the University, but at MRC’s workshop near Coventry. Dave’s plan is moving forward, and I think he’s planning to launch a supporters club in the near future.

I was aware there was a Mustang under restoration in Coventry and had seen it linked with Coventry University and wondered if that is where it is.
Will J has explained – thanks.

Are you referring to my poor signal vs noise ratio by any chance 😉
Dave was planning to get the control surfaces back on to PY this weekend…

Hello everybody, I was away from Coventry over the weekend…
(buying and building contra-rotating propellers for my university project- a long story)
…so I missed ‘Baltic Bear’, a shame as I love AN-2s (off topic, whatever happened to the Utterly Butterly one, that was a fantastic display act… 🙂 )
I will post an update on G-AMPY some time this week, next time I make it into the hangar.
Roger, there is lots of info on ‘Da Quake’ here…

And yes, Dave (MRC Ltd) is a lecturer at the University.

The “Baltic Bear” (LY-BIG – I think) is featured in Aeroplane this month – It has a full VIP sort of fit and is something else on the inside…

The mail flights at Bournemouth are now operated by a Titan Airways B737-300. I believe the Electra has operated the occasional flight since but not on a regular basis. I know what I would rather see!!!
By: stringbag - 17th April 2005 at 23:00
Is there still an Air Atlantique Electra based at Hurn?
By: John C - 17th April 2005 at 22:22
Is that the Mustang linked with Coventry University?

After 9 days away in Gods own County I hope that my beloved will let me go to the Classic Flight do next Saturday (Get Netty to put a good word in for me Will!!)

The DC6 have indeed been to Gothenburg occasionally but have not flown for some time now, mainly because the ATR side of things has been so busy we haven’t had enough pilots! They are still airworthy however and I think one should be at the Biggin show as usual.

Does the DC-6 still fly cargo carters? Someone mentioned to me that it did go to Gothenburg every now and then, any truth in that?
