Spotted this new arrival while visiting Brooklands this afternoon. Apologies for the quality, all I had with me was my mobile phone! Is it the VC10 from Duxford?? (couldn’t see any sign of wings, so this is maybe all there is…)

The brooklands example was the only VC10 Cosford resident. As regards the Vicky tug film, its either her being tugged in when she arrived at Cosford or when she was moved off her stand to be dismantled to go to Brooklands. As in other posts, maybe we’ll get another when the VC10 is withdrawn from RAF service. After last nights news report on the RAF transport/tanker/logistics fleet, it may be sooner rather than later.

Have they not got at least one VC.10 at RAF Cosford?
Whenever the subject of “will it be RAF Cosford or an RAF base in South Wales that will be closed” appears on the local tv news they show footage of a VC.10 being towed by a tug – or is it old library film?

It is the Vicky from Cosford, which I miss very much. That graceful tail was designed by a man with a pen and a piece of paper with a sense of theatre. I think Duxfords is now the closest to me here in Wolves? anyone know of any closer?

Yes the VC10 no longer has her wings or tail, these were chopped and scrapped. They did split her at a production joint so at least the fuselage wasn’t cut.
This is how I like to remember G-ARVM – pics on my website:

glad you liked the pics. Apologies for the double post too, it seems either my computer or the website went into meltdown as I posted.

Google is your friend!
Ex Cosford, according to this – no doubt someone will fill the rest in!
