Managed to steal this shot, at a secret location today, of Tom Cruise talking to Steven Spielberg during rehersals for the remake of ‘Reach for the sky’.

A common, and reasonable response the the Goriller of 3B. 😀
Why have Gorillas got big nostrils?
Have you seen the size of their fingers?

Although I was completely fooled by the likeness, I know for a fact that Tom Cruise is NOT wearing crutches – not even as a celebrity fashion accessory.

Have fun with the low tech toys. Whizz for attoms!

Thanks folks.
Y11F: I’ll send you a baked bean tin with the string attached to my can.
Internet connection is still only 512kbs from a laptop data card at the mo. I’m working on that. Mobile works. New job will take me away from posting during the day – sob. And I’ve just started watching telly again after 2 months. It’s a very weird life I have.
JDK: Hmm  :p

Looks more like Ally McCoist meets David Bellamy…………..
Nah, I’m a much better footballer than Ally McCoist… 😉
JDK – Me? Behave? With my reputation…? 😉
Welcome back Janie, good to see you on here again.

Return of Janie. At last. Really, it hasn’t been the same. Of course. Not comitting to ‘better’ or ‘worse’ – but certainly ‘different’. 😀

Excellent, Janie!
Now all we’ve got to do is raise a few million quid. We’ll do a whip round at the next Forun meet.

I have some vague recollection of some pilot being killed when falling off the wing of his aircraft (Spitfire?) And, no, I’m NOT thinking of ‘The Bull’ in Piece of Cake’. Anyone got the details?
Glad to hear you are mostly OK Steve. Behave, eh?
Cheers!
‘Twas a Hurri in the book, but I’ll let you off if you meant the TV series! :p

Thanks Met. It’s good to be here. Apparently, the place I’ve moved to is where Tom Cruise used to live.
I have no stories of falling off of Yaks. However – a word of advice to budding Chipmunk pilots: Do not demonstrate to your rear-seated passenger how to operate the flap leaver whilst standing beside them on the wing. It’s not a long or painful drop from there, nor does the passenger ever realise where you disappear to, but it’s certainly not the sort of thing you would ever confess to having experienced, if you have any sense – so a friend of mine once told me.

It’s Janie! Blimey!
Welcome back 🙂

We’ve decided to call the remake “Reach for the Adnams”. We just need a pretty female as the leading actress – any volunteers?

Like that bit in “The Great Waldo Pepper”, where Robert Redford puts his foot through the Jenny’s wing – silly man!
By: adrian_gray - 27th September 2004 at 15:42
It could have been a lot worse…
Back when I was knee high to a Slingsby Grasshopper (about 1984) I remember the owner of an all-yellow Tiger Moth at Headcorn telling me that someone had uttered the magic words “It’s amazing how flimsy these things are” as they had leaned towrds his wing… There was tearing noise and the guy’s arm went through the fabric!
So at least the Yak is unhurt!

You bugger Geoff! 😀 The story behind my latest mode of transport is that I completely ignored some advice given to me when dismounting from a Yak 52 last weekend, and forgot that the wing is a bit higher off the ground than a PA28.
On one memorable occasion I was dismounting from the Yak and let the heel of my boot attempt to find grip off the painted ‘walkway’.
There wasn’t any.
I landed arse first on the wing, bounced, and then hit the tarmac.
Exit cool Yak pilot with very hurt pride and a large, tender bruise.
