Our local surgery rang my husband at 9 a.m. today to ask what he weighed ” for a government survey “.No doubt his stats will go into a programme which will eventually conclude ( surprise surprise ) we’re all too fat.Is it just me who feels that Big Brother has finally moved into No. 10 ? I’m apalled and I can’t even spell the word !I didn’t get to the age of ( ahem, cough cough ) without being able to tell whether I’m fat or not. Is this a total waste of NHS money or am I over-reacting ?

She hasn’t gone – just crying in a corner quietly ( he called me FAT! ).Last year my mother spent three months in an NHS hospital that was pitifully short of even the most basic stuff. If the government has money to burn paying someone to ring people up asking how much they weigh they could channel some of it into that hospital. They could start with a couple of chairs so people like my eighty-five year old Dad don’t have to stand up when they visit.

…I thinks she’s gone.
I agree it’s a waste of taxpayers money. The phone calls at the daily business rates are expensive. To find out the weight is only useful if you know the height and the ethnic backround. A 6 foot black guy will be heavier than a 6 foot white guy. A 16 stone guy that is 6 foot 6 is not fat.
“White men can’t jump” as the expression says…but can be expanded by “Black men can’t swim”. Bones like steel!
It’s a Government thing, so how on Earth can it be right.
