Tools of a Chinese Way of War

Every military power of note has its distinctive characteristics that reflect a combination of unique national requirements, historical factors, and philosophical/doctrinal points of distinction.

For the most part China has to date been following in the footsteps of the current standard-bearers, primarily the United States, with DF-21D a notable exception having no parallel elsewhere. Over the coming decades we should see the increasing emergence of a distinctively Chinese way of war.

The question for this thread is what kinds of platforms we can expect to support this. Specific points of discussion might include:

— the role of J-20
— the extent of Chinese carrier ambitions
— the nature of eventual H-6 replacement
— opportunities and challenges in projecting power throughout the first and second island chains
