I don’t usually watch the series but happened to catch a bit this week.So does anyone know which airfield/s they use? I couldn’t help notice a 747 in the background this week. Bruntingthorpe?? Thanks

Plans were submitted for a move to Enstone. They don’t appear to be in much of hurry though. Pretty risky procedure in any case given any TV programme could be refused another series.

Perhaps XM172 should be a gate guard for Top Gear at Dunsfold? I know it’s been brought up on other threads about Clarksons involvement with this aircraft.

Hethel still used by Lotus as far as I was aware – they own it.

Hethel in Norfolk was also used.
Once home to the 389th Bomb Group of the 8th Airforce, it was, until recently I think, used as a base by Lotus Ltd, and therefore provided the ideal place for Clarkson and co. to go speeding around in their fancy cars.

Dunsfold was used on some other tv programme recently but can’t remember which one, possibly Scrapheap Challenge.

5th Gear (Channel 5) with Tiff Needell, Vicky Butler Henderson and Jason Plato is sometimes filmed at Bruntingthorpe as you can see the ex Olympic B747 in the background.
Top Gear (BBC2) is filmed at Dunsfold where the B747 is ex Air Atlanta Europe G-BDXJ.

Yep it’s got ‘www.dunsfoldpark.com‘ painted on the side of the Jumbo – good advertising, as obviously the cameras will be pointing in that direction!
