Top Gun "Viper" insignia

TOP GUN . I appreciate it was a film … but can anyone tell me what the various insignia ….

CDR MIKE METCALF “VIPER” was wearing on his khaki uniform in the training room …. specifically above the left breast pocket. Seems to be a mixture of things but photos not clear.
