LAST EDITED ON 16-Jan-01 AT 11:55 AM (GMT)[p]In janes it was reported and Mod has addmited that in september of 2000 the Leatest model of Phoenix UAV ws lost presumably to VJ fire while it was spying of Zone of safety in southern serbia.
According to the janes the UAV was carrying new termal and night imaging technology that MoD considerd top secret. Now it has emerged that the UAV was either given or morelikely sold to Russia which is well behind in the UAV tech and but more importantly is interested on the equipment it was carrying.
The VJ had confiremd the shooting of not one but two UAVs in that time but denied that they are given to to russia. A funny thing is (if true) appaently NATO was silly enough to send letter to Kostunica and ask for the remains back.. did they actualy expec to get it back.
but anyway my question is do you have any info on this situation and what is the technology loss risk if the equipment was recovered. Also anybody has idea what was second UAV.
