The Tornado F3 is an old Cold War aircraft, soon to be replaced by the Eurofighter Typhoon, but it has been upgraded to such an extent that at a recent NATO exercise in Canada, its newly installed AMRAAM long-range missile, combined with an improved radar and JTIDS tactical information system, helped two RAF Tornado squadrons “shoot down” 602 much newer fighters for the loss of only one of their own.
