The RAF has apparently donated a Tornado F.3A to the Italian Air Force. This is obviously one of the former leased aircraft, but which one? Any keen spotter know the RAF and/or Italian serial?

A number of the F3’s are starting to be seen out and about and mentioned in service at Leuchars or stored upgraded at St Athan.
Not an ex italian bird but of note is that ZG796 (WC) is to be put on display there.(leuchars)

Thank you
Thanks, Mike.
You are probably right in correcting my designation. Over here they are simply called ADV anyway, and not much loved either!

F.3A
For two reasons – preservation in the Italian Air Force Museum, cuts in RAF structure making lots of F.3A redundant. One of the previously returned airframes went straight to stripping and gate guardian duties in the UK.

Why would they donate one? Grateful gift perhaps?
