I tell no lies this morning we fell over a full length Tornado fuselage behind a shed attached to a weigh bridge (it arrived 2 hours before hand).
Do not know the identity yet but it is full length fuselage minus wings undercarriage and tail.No engines, cockpit stripped,no nose cone. Windscreens are present as are the panels AND ALL THE WIRING LOOMS but no instruments and no bang seats. Think it could be a GR3 but not 100% sure .
Got our name on it to save it at the moment but the yard are uncertain if they can sell it or it has to be chopped will keep you updated fingers crossed they will say they can sell it as I am sure some one out there will like to get it .Probably Simon will be stood at the front of the queue Or have you got enough Tornado’s now Simon ??
Any potential interested parties please PM if we get the nod its for sale then I will circulate the contact details to interested parties and you can then go for it yourselves.
Will try to get some pics if the yard owner will allow.

Fiona Banner’s ‘Harrier and Jaguar’ was not exactly abound with artistic merit but at least the airframes were in one piece!

I have some more recent pictures I can post later.
The centre canopy section seen in the first photo is gone and other damage is visible where the Tornado was lifted onto pile.

Well it’s a trainer aircraft (Twin Stick) which narrows it down a bit further – Mike

Bad news guys the Tornado has been moved by scrap grabbers onto the top of the shredding pile. This has been confirmed by a very reliable source.
Also from the original source we have been advised that there are shall we call them a lot of issues over the aircraft having ended up there and it is now a closed subject as far as anyone from the scrap dealers is concerned.
very sad but there you go and we have not even been able to establish its identity.
We thought it was very strange that it turned up where it did and events seem to bear out this that in fact it should perhaps never have gone there to start with !!!!

Murder? Really?
The RAF purchased, IIRC, 365 Tornados. How many are likely to end up in preservation? 20? Perhaps even 30? Exactly what do you think should happen to the remainder?
If one example ends up being melted down to produce a bell rather than for beercans, is that really murder?
it is strange , it is impossible and not viable to save every single one
what should be happening is admiration for some superb aviation art works she has done , the jaguar was nice at the tate modern
the bell is a beuatiful thaught provoking art work that members of the public can get hands on with that normaly wouldn’t bother about aviation
better that than rotting un toutched on an airfield or smelted for cans
there are enough that will be saved
quite a few lightnings were !! but there will always be the A1 lighnings of the world . sureley an artwork like that bell is a more gratious end !!

no photos forthcoming, i suspect this is an april fool
April fool on the 2nd then you have been sniffing something also. The reason there aint no photo’s is the scrap yard do not want any publishing if that is a problem for folks then sorry TOUGH !!!!!.
If and when we get told it is available for other than recycling for coke cans then we will provide more info as promised.
And no as far as we can tell it is not the art one either.

Scott look on the bright side, a bell would look better than a Tornado, wouldn’t ring very well though.
