Tory MP: There's a "totally different type of people" in standard-class trains

Moggy’s description is spot on.I travelled up to London by train on Monday,having to stand for thirty of the forty minutes it took,squashed up against some tall young chap’s rucksack ( what on earth have they got in there ?) Nobody offered me,a little old lady,a seat,and I had to stick my MP3 player in my ears to blot out the sound of a trio of teenage boys describing their sexual conquests.
Every MP should be required to travel by second class only to see what it’s like for the rest of us.

That’s you. He isn’t paying for it. Besides, on a journey of any kind of vague length like heading down to London I’d rather stick my iPod in my ears, open a beer and ignore what’s going on around me than have some arrsehole like this guy looking down his nose at me like some kind of inferior being (or perhaps if I were in first class in jeans and a t-shirt he’d somehow think I was still ‘one of them’?)

The funny thing about listening to the interview is his words are every bit as disjointed and ill-thought out as Nick Griffin’s on Question Time. If you actually genuinely believe something to be true then you should have no problem whatsoever in explaining clearly why, which he appears largely incapable of doing. All he seems to do in saying “they have a different outlook on life” is imply he’s somehow dramatically more important than those who pay him to represent them. What a pompous, arrogant fool, and top marks to the presenter for making him look a bit of a tosser. He deserved it.

I agree with moggy, whenever I travel on the train, i do my absolute best to book the “quiet carriage” Although the rules arent always enforced, 90% of the time its better than the rest 🙂

Steerage is populated with screaming kids, foul-mouthed teens with their feet on the opposite cushion, inane phone conversations about nothing that couldn’t wait carried out at full volume preceded by mind-numbing ring tones and the tinny repetitive ‘tsk tsk tsk’ of some idiots destroying their hearing for life by listening to their iPods at brain-jellying levels.

All this in an ankle deep wasteland of discarded food, wrappings and old newspapers.
