Tough choice this weekend

Well chaps and chapesses whats the verdict for this weekend, with 4 events to temp us at the strart of the airshow season its a tough choice. Old Warden,Duxford, Bruntingthorpe and Abingdon, what a line up to start the year.
I wil be doing the Abingdon thing, for several reasons:-
1.Its on my doorstep <4miles to the airfield.
2.Its got lots of stuff going on to keep the family entertained.
3.I have a new camera to learn how to use and I dont want to get it wrong at a big display.
4. Its great to see flying at the former RAF station and I feel driven to support this so as we can encourage further events and possible growth.
If this was not happening I woud be going to Old Warden without doubt.
So whats everyone else ?

Sorry, Alexis, I don’t know. I was just told in the email that the P40 and Swordfish won’t be taking part. Your best bet would be to email OFMC and ask them.

Yes , Lets hope Tubby the Tuba does not start up whilst the Merlins are performing.
Sorry , should have asked what Mrs Fence plays before saying that. I’m sure its lovely whatever it is.
My Daughter is learning the Cello, the cello is the finest sounding instrument in the orchestra, however some of the noises that emminate during her practice sessions are reminisent of a cat with his tail on fire, bless her.

I didnt book them I just married one of them πŸ˜€

Mrs Fence knows better than to intrude upon the graceful concerto of a Merlin. I dont think she knows how loud a Hunter is though.

The Matadors are a superb two ship aerobatics team, made up of Paul Bonhomme (TFC Spit and Bearcat master) and Steve Jones.

Manonthefence – wow the Abingdon town band, now I’ve seen and heard them and ……well …….if thats what flicks your switch its fine. I also read that there is some ‘internationally renound’ lady playing her organ….sounds delightfull, let just hope it does not interfere with the noise of the BBMF.

Thanks for the update, sounds like a nice gentle start to the season.

Excuse my ignorance but who or what are the Matadors.

Right, I have good and bad news about Duxford. The bad news is that the Swordfish and OFMC Kittyhawk aren’t appearing, but the good news is the Pembroke and T28 are displaying. This is an updated flying list I was sent from the museum:

T28
Storch and Cub
Tornado GR4
Blenheim and Anson
Tucano
B17 and P47
Gladiator
Jaguar
The Matadors

Lancaster and Tornado GR4 flypast
Lancaster
Harrier GR7

PS Anyone seen the Monty Python sketch about the joke that if you hear one word of it, it can kill you? Same thing but with music. πŸ˜€

Ok, i’m busy on and off all day, but I reckon a nice big food fight, i mean picnic, would be nice before the flying begins… grass next to the Flypast enclosure from 1230 onwards, mill around, park the ladders, then rummage in Ashleys hamper? Moggy can run back and forth for free FP coffee, and we can manhandle the toilet closer…

Air Commodore Kit North Lewis DSO DFC is taking the salute of the RAF Falcons at 1:45. he’s going to be on the Vector stand with (subject tyo serviceability!) Jimmy Kyle DFM, Ronnie Sheward DFC, David Ince DFC, and Stapme.

Later on, Ray Grayston, Harry Humphries and Tony Iveson (617 Bods?) will take the Lanc / Big Fin salute. Also some BoB and ASR veterans.

“The MAY Air Display commemorates the 60th anniversary of the legendary Dambusters raid by Lancasters of the 617 Squadron and pays tribute to B-17 Flying Fortress Memphis Belle which famously completed its last mission sixty years ago. This show will be the first major UK air display of the year and will feature other aircraft that have taken part in daring against-the-odds missions. Proposed guests of honour will include surviving members of 617 Squadron that took part in the raid, Veterans from the β€˜Walrus’ Squadron of Air Sea rescue, Veteran Typhoon pilots, Battle of Britain pilots and Veteran pilots of 78 Fighter group based at Duxford in 1943.”

Yes please, as it might just encourage me to attend. I can then help Moggy in his quest to rid the world of egg beaters πŸ˜€
