Traffic Arrangements for Legends?

Can anyone tell me what the traffic arrangements will be for Legends this year? I haven’t been to a Duxford display for a few years, but I gather from the correspondence on the forum that there have been changes because of the building work.

For family reasons I desperately want to avoid being parked on the “other” side of the road. Does it make a difference which direction you approach Duxford from? Last time we attended we came up the M11 and were brought in at the entrance by the roundabout and parked in front of Hanger 1. On previous visits we’d approached from Royston and turned right onto the airfield, being parked behind the Land Warfare Hall, or in the field to the west.

Any information or advice will be gratefully received.

Just to clarify, you can also access the West car park from the direction of the M11 juction, as I do – just make sure you carry straight along the A505, ignoring any directions to the North car park on the ‘wrong’ side of the road, until you reach the West car park entrance on your left. Much the best place to park at DX, but I would recommend getting there as early as poss.

Many thanks for the help. It does indeed look as though coming from the west is the best bet now that the east car park isn’t open to all. Presumably they use the north side car parks when the south side is full, so the answer is to get there early?

I was just worried that they might be operating a system that avoided cars turning right across the A-505, i.e. if you come from the west you turn left into the north side car parks and if you come from the east you turn left into those on the south side.

Looks from that as if coming from the west (Royston) would give you the best chance of being lucky, unless you shell out for a Platinum Pass etc.

There are only two ways to approach Duxford and neither of those will automatically get you on the south side as opposed to the Ashley compound 😉

I think it largely depends on your time of arrival.

If you can arrange to become disabled prior to Legends it might help, but some would say it’s a bit drastic.

Any FoD know if they get automatic main site parking?

I think motorkbikes are always southside.
