Transaero start at EDI tomorrow!

Yes tomorrow Wednesday 2nd of June is the first day of ops for Transaero’s DME-EDI-DME (Moscow Domodedovo) service, marking the first time ever that the two respective countries have been linked. Bookings for the summer are looking good, most days so far are even better than LGW’s Transaero service just now! But then being a weekly service at EDI that should be expected, or is the LGW service weekly as well?
In fact using this great tool, I can say that the DME-EDI flight on the 14th of July is full! 😀 http://flyaow.com/classual.htm

The flight is scheduled to arrive at Midday and depart at 1pm.

I am going to try and get out to EDI to see it. Although it’s doubtful if I will. If I do I’ll try and bring back a few of my crappy pics from the crappy digital camera! :p Now I leave you with this press release from a few days ago: 🙂

Edinburgh Airport welcomes Scotland’s first direct flight from Russia
28 May 2004

This Wednesday, 2 June 2004, Edinburgh Airport will welcome the arrival of Transaero Airlines flight UN315, the first-ever scheduled non-stop service from Russia to Scotland.

The launch of this new service between Edinburgh and Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport will strengthen links between the two cities, boosting tourism and business opportunities.

To mark the occasion BAA Edinburgh Airport will be holding an airside photocall at 12:00 hrs to which you are invited. Representatives from BAA Edinburgh Airport and Transaero Airlines will be present.

All media wishing to go airside for the photocall must bring either a passport or UK photographic driving licence, with paper counterpart. Failure to do so will result in access being denied.

The photocall will be followed by a press conference at 13:15 hrs, which will take place at the Hilton Hotel, Edinburgh Airport.

Hugh Aitken, BAA Edinburgh Airport’s Head of Strategy said: “Moscow is an exciting destination for Scots business and leisure travellers and a welcome addition to the growing number of cities now serviced direct from Scotland. We look forward to supporting the airline’s efforts in the coming months and years.”

Harmless banter. Just avoid the post you don’t like ! 😉

Same old crap witnessed a million times more like. 😎 It’s as enlightening as being caught in a debate between East Fife and Cowdenbeath football supporters. :p

The amount of EDI versus GLA threads these days is nothing short of embarrasing

We’ll take Qatar and whoever

You can have another short haul European carrier – We’ll have Qatar, and PIA.
I’m off to bed now. Speak soon. 🙂

They’re not! They chose West, we don’t want them to come grovelling to EDI went the routes fail! :p We’ll take Qatar and whoever.
I realise the MAN route is starting but the 767s are only occasionally subbed on their Euro routes I think, they are scheduled to operate their longer haul routes such as Hong Kong etc.

This year Transaero will open one more route to Great Britain. Regular flights from Moscow to Manchester are planning to be opened in autumn

http://eagle.transaero.ru/english/about/news.html?news_id=99
Looks like MAN could steal your thunder, if MANs current runaway successes continue. MAN will get 767’s before EDI I think.
I’m certainly not saying its not an interesting route -its a great coup for EDI – I hope its a success. The Aeroflot flights from GLA in the 80’s certainly were.

US Air and EK are as common as muck now

Ill tell US and EK that they’re not wanted at EDI then !!! 😉
See pic of IL-62, TU-134, TU-154’s at GLA regular to Moscow 1980’s

US Air and EK are as common as muck now! 😉 Just now I think the only other airport on the UK airport Transaero can be found at is LGW, plus they have 767s and I certainly wouldn’t rule them out making a few appearences over the summer.

Air Canada widebody 767 returns to Glasgow tomorrow( albeit for a shortened summer season due to the many WIDEBODIES) now on transaltantic runs.
Cough cough US AIR, cough cough EMIRATES. Don’t get me started, but I if I had to choose between a 737 to Russia and intercontinental widebodies, I know which one i’d choose!! 😀
Sorry thats all I’ll say – Ill not start a G vs E debate despite the provocation
