Transport to Duxford

Does the C7 bus from Cambridge to Duxford stop outside the train station or does it just go from Emmanuel Street? Thanks

Thanks for all the advice. Looks like there are plenty of ways to get myself to and from Duxford. Gotta love the helpfulness on this forum!

Walking from Whittlesford

I have found recently that gaining access to Duxford from Whittlesford is a very straightforward option (can be done in 25 mins at sensible pace). I would like to add one word of warning. I don’t think Duxford want to encourage people to walk round this route so there are no facilities for pedestrians to cross the junction entries and exits on the main M11/A505 roundabout. If it is gridlocked then walking across is relatively safe but if it is free moving be very careful.

I do have to agree that the Red Lion offers a very pleasant refuge whilst waining for that train. 🙂

I can always get a taxi from the train station to Duxford (which I did last time), I’m mostly concerned with getting myself back to Cambridge to get the train back to London.

Surely the taxi would get stuck in the traffic at Whittlesford as well 😉 but there are country roads that can get you the back ways through Shelford close to Duxford if you don’t mind walking along the A505.
If you are catching the train back to London there is either a direct service rom Whittlesford – London Liverpool St ,all the trains stop there http://www.one-westanglia.com/home/
The other option is to go back to Cambridge or Royston then onto Kings Cross but by the time you’ve done that you may be better walking to Whittlesford.

I believe the C7 stops at the memorial stop at the end of Station Road, its about a 5 minute walk turn left at the end of the road you cant go wrong, having said that it is normal that on Airshow days double deckers operate free from the station on an as soon as there full they go basis. But you should check that by ringing Duxford.

You had better try and find out how many buses they plan to run,if you are really stuck Whittlesford Station is on the Cambridge – Liverpool Street line and Whittlesford is about 2-3 miles from Duxford,it is walkable or cycleable [is that a word 😮 ] if you are reasonably fit and are’nt carrying too much.

Whittlesford would be a good plan.

An easy enough walk, plus the Red Lion to wait in whilst the rush dies down. At the end of the show you’d probably get there quicker than you’d get to the front of the enormous queues for the courtesy buses.

Thanks Trumper.

It does seem to stop outside the train station. I was planning on going to Legends just on the Sunday and I know there is a courtesy bus; now I’m thinking of going on the Saturday as well, so wasn’t sure about ordinary buses.
