Travel Back In Time From Leeds Bradford: 13.04.07

Travel back in time from Leeds Bradford Airport
on a vintage pleasure flight with Classic Flights

From 19th to 22nd April, unique pleasure flight operator, Air Atlantic Classic Flight, are giving you the chance of an unforgettable experience by offering pleasure flights from Leeds Bradford Airport in a vintage DC-3 Dakota aircraft.

The DC-3 Dakota aircraft has a particularly special link with Leeds Bradford Airport as they were used by BKS, the first scheduled airline to operate from Yeadon Aerodrome, back in 1955.
American Airlines were the first to use the Douglas DC-3 commercially in 1936 and then with the advent of the war, orders for the DC-3 poured in from both the military and commercial Airlines. Between 1935 and 1947 Douglas had built a total of 10,654 DC-3s and now, 63 years later there are still almost a 1,000 in flying condition.

At a cost of only £55, a flight on a vintage DC-3 Dakota is a fantastic experience for any aircraft enthusiast or a unique gift for that special occasion.

Hmm… Thanks for that, Marcus! Looks somewhat more interesting than the concert hall we’re playing here in Sarbrucken, Germany tonight! Glad you enjoyed it though mate!

DC-3

Well PMN

I was supposed to fly on Thursday on the DC-3 but the weather prevented…so I turned up yesterday lunchtime and…well..errr…I went on it – taking photos is a little ..how can I say it….different.

The seats are higher than the windows and when you are tall you are almost bent double to get a view out of the windows..

Anyway, had a great flight, grreat noise…and a lovely smell of burning rubber wafting thru the cabin on touchdown

I can not believe this is happening right when I’m on tour in Germany! The DC-3 is one of the most elegent, graceful and beautiful aircraft I’ve ever seen in the air, and I’d love the chance to experience one in flight. Bloody typical I’m in a different country when it’s flying from my local!
