Basingstoke council have a startling new strategy for “travellers” and their camps.
Travellers for the uninformed, is the PC description of people who decide that they can park and live anywhere that they like, leave waste (animal, vegetable, mineral and human) behind them and move along when it seems to be at a depth of between waist and knee high leaving others to clear up and pay for it.
Rather than use the powers that, according to the local MP, the police have to move them along if in the view of the officer the site appears to be anything other than transitory (I forget the exact phrase) the council have started digging earth works. So there are now piles of top soil on grass verges on industrial estates, park areas and verges. Parts of the town resemble the Somme now, all designed to deter such people. Another case where a simple law could be passed and enforced by seizing caravans, 4X4’s etc, once the site is established. Again, people who flout society by camping where they choose, and protected and subsidised by that society.
A camp of about 20 caravans is now on a council football pitch, with piles of wood being burned, washing strung up between goal posts, and piles of rubbish strewn about the place. People who have arranged to play at the week-end, and paid in advance for the season can’t play, a minor loss in life but why should they loose out and why do I have to cover the costs via my local tax etc?

That appeals to my warped sense of humour, just a shame it wasn’t slurry – that stuff gets everywhere no matter how hard you try to avoid it.

I love the irony of dumping the sh!t on the ‘travellers’ for once….!:D

Do what a farmer friend of mine did…………………
3oclock in morning drove throught the campsite with his liquid manure spreader and covered the lot
They were away within 2hrs. Babylon came round to question him but it was on private property and he was going about his business allegedly:p

On one of the main roads in Walsall there used to be a lorry park. Weeknights you’d get twenty to thirty tractor and trailer units parked there. I used to walk through there on the way home from work. Bear in mind this was about 25 years ago.
One weekend a caravan of travellers arrived and set up home on the lorry park. There must have been about fifteen individual caravans and no end of Transit pick ups and 4X4’s. Lorry drivers who used to deliver to us were going mad about it. No reaction from the Police other than to ticket the lorry drivers who were finding alternative parking in places they shouldn’t. Come the Friday morning, I was walking to work as usual and was surprised to see the traveller’s vans all hitched up and on the road moving from the site with a Police escort. All bar three of them that is. The wreckage of three caravans was strewn across the lorry park after the traveller’s encampment was, shall we say, visited during the night by a JCB driven by person or persons unknown. As far as I can remember no-one was ever prosecuted and the tavelling community never tried setting up there again. By the Monday the site had been cleared and was open for business again. Some wag painted on a nearby hoarding the legend ‘JCB Three, Travellers Nil.’
Harsh, but effective.

That’s the way to do it. Seems that is the only kind of message some people understand.

Why not just gas them, isn’t this what generally happens with unwanted minorities ?

In a bad DJ type of link, our town chased out Maxine Carr. The GF of the Huntley parasite. She worked in the Library.
She had a changed face, changed ID etc. but strangers here are always checked up on by the network of townsfolk. She was rumbled and it was made clear what was likely to happen. Police scooped her off within 2 hours.

If last resort for a bird in a 12 guage, then surely the scaled up response for dispatching a caravan is an RPG? :diablo:
RPG might pass through it.
Next Gen mortar launcher, the one that calculates how many milliseconds past the window to explode. Gets the people in the room instead of wasting good ammo. But, they don’t sell them at Morrisons.

12 gauge No 1 (solid) shot, full metal jacket, using an L32 5 shot semi automatic.;)
OK let’s be serious about this, Avenger cannon with depleted uranium rounds. As you may have guessed I don’t believe in excessive force.

:D:D Not very likely to work, they’d punch straight through as caravans are too lightly build to detonate them.

Last resort in the bird control world as Scotavia would tell you, is a 12 gauge!:diablo:
Sounds good enough to me, might be a long term deterrent for these wasters if that method was used on a few of them.

Aah, but you have to get too close. I forget the spread of a long barrel 12 bore – is it 1 yard diameter for 60 feet? Ok, at 60 feet you’re going to part his hair with lead but they can catch you in their souped up 4×4 Porche things.

What is wrong in using your ‘last resort’ method on them??

Last resort doesn’t work with these sort.
They are hard cases, nutters. In the days when society was also filled with hard cases, these “Thieving Gypsy Bast****” as Viz called them, would indeed be run out of town or worse. Now, the people that think they are hard are just scally no-marks who assume using a knife on a similar age/younger child is “Hard”. Also, the law would fall agin the true society member taking it upon himself to rid the town of the stench of homeless dole abusing car thieving burglars.
They are a 100% insult to the term Gypsy, I know this before anyone tells me off!
I also know Viz had to publish an apology on behalf of the Egyptian/Romanian culture.

I used to work in bird control ……………However you needed to be very aware of displacement and in some cases the act of scaring birds at the wrong time could cause an accident.
