Why is the Towed Radar Decoy on the F-18 placed in the middle (rear) of the aeroplane and not on the port side or starboard side like it is on the Typhoon? (Apart from taking up a stores station)
I can’t help but think that if the TRD is deployed on the F-18 then the pilot lights up his reheat….He’s going to do damage to the fibre optic cable somehow….Sounds silly I know but it kind of makes you think….
Where as on the Typhoon, it’s (or they) are placed on the starboard side-pod well away from the engine(s).
