Trees with RAF markings

Hi thought some of you might be interested in this tree that i discovered near Langton in lincolnshire.

As you can see the markings read RAF A.V.M (or W) SEPT. 41

The coordinares are Lattitude 53.2196n Longitude .0938E

Trouble is its bugging me who might have done this graffiti so many years ago, could it have been a real Air Vice-Marshal or just someone with the initials AVM, or even two people. The other with the initials RAF.

I realise that the answer may never be known but i thought i would share it anyway.

In line with the WW2 policy of alloting codes with the wing leaders initials to aircraft, there was a policy adopted by the Royal Ornithological Society of alloting personal trees to high ranking twitchers.
