Kevin, the AVP will move at some point but it could be from 5 years to 10 years no one will commit to a timescale.

A good, give her some time to settle in , are there any plans to open her up for a look in side,,

Hi Ren,id like to restore the wing to it’s full span but there is not the room for it at present,it would end up taking out half the approach road.

Tommyinyork, this aircraft will never fly again lots of cutting and grinding has gone on (i would not wanna fly on it to be honest) G-AWZM at Wroughton could!!

Ah sorry, the damage is on the outer flap, this was caused by us lifting the wing.Back in 1990 BA decided to shorten the outer wings by 15ft each side to save space ie popping the Trident in tight spaces (saving ramp space) so there are no aerilons anymore!! the problem is that the moulded wingtips are connected to the outer flap making it very difficult and time consuming to remove them,we opted to leave them on and doing so damaging them.I will be doing a cosmetic repair to both outer flaps.

Neil,

Is there enough room onsite at the AVP to entertain (or otherwise) the notion of fully restored wings, lengthwise ?

Good to see the old bird being rebuilt, I take it the rumor that the viewiing area was to be closed and moved , is untrue , or are these plans on hold ,

The rudder was damaged in 1987 due to high winds, the rudder was not locked at the time.

Sorry, I was talking about the first photo in the threat.

Excellent news! I’m really happy your project is coming together and you’ve taken the time to restore this beautiful old plane. If there’s one thing she doesn’t deserve it’s the torch! Such a shame her wings were shortened though.

I’m looking forward to getting a few shots of her on my next visit to the AVP!
