Trip in London

Believe it or not, I have been travelling in many countries but I never visited London.
I will take the eurostar on next WE for a nice journey there.

What kind of visits would you suggest to make this visit a success?

I am a constant visitor to London, and the places I would recommend are Leister Sqaure and Covent Garden. Theres always loads going on in each, from markets to street entertainment.

RE: Trip in London

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-01-03 AT 05:13 AM (GMT)]London is great. I loved it. Too many things to mention. One visit won’t do it if you decide you like it. Imperial War Museum was cool. Churchills underground command post. But really, too many things to mention. Just seeing London is neat. I guess it is completely different if you grew up there and don’t find it unique.

John Major when he was a lowly MP gave a group of 10 of us from Alconbury a tour of Parliment in 1985 (fun watching all the tourist slobs wait in line while we went in a different door . }> ) That was incredible ( they show the PMs weekly address over here on TV in the states so I watch it when I can )“Order… Order!…”

RE: Trip in London

Yep Harrods is a good place to go, but as said above very expensive, although a kid did get a £4000 tv for just £100 in their sale two weeks ago!

London Dungeons is another good place, very spooky. 😛

Rabie, I too support Arsenal, but Tomorrow, I would like to see Farnborough win… would be nice to see the underdog become victorious for once. 🙂

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-01-03 AT 06:28 PM (GMT)]I would suggest for your first visit to London to go have a cup of tea with the Queen :7
Seriously, a must do in London is a trip to Harrods. You might not have the money, but just look around or go eat Sushi in the food hall, its fab! If you can’t afford that Hugo Boss shirt then just buy a Harrods teddy or biscuits instead! However, avoid Oxford Street for shopping.

If I were you I would also go to Covent Garden as the atmosphere is excellent there and so is the entertainment. Enjoy yourself!

RE: Trip in London

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-01-03 AT 02:08 PM (GMT)]I live 40 minutes from Central London and have been there about 3 times in my 17 year life. I despise the place.

And I’m going there next Friday to visit Photo Galleries, great!

By all means take a trip on the British Airways London Eye – I think it was £11 or something like that for me to go on it for 30 minutes. I think that is incredibly expensive.

The shops are mostly expensive ones and aimed at the Upper Class (at least, that’s what I believe). Especially Harrods, what a joke!

I’ve yet to discover a side to London that I actually like and an area that is within my budget to visit – everything is just so overpriced.. more so than you average tourist City.

London is meant to be our capital city and I do not believe it represents British Culture – the rest of the country is nothing like it (fortunately).

RE: Trip in London

What I did

British Museum
Madame Taussault
Tower Bridge
Buckingham palace (somehow people over there didn`t appreciate my presence, probably because of that #####-shouting)
… actually all the places normal tourists visit.

RE: Trip in London

The London Eye, gives you outstanding views across London, and if your into War ships, the HMS Belfast, is worth a look at too, situated directly next door to Tower Bridge.
