Trip Report – AEU MAN-AGP/ MON AGP-MAN

Hi,

Hope you enjoy my report!

Aircraft: 737-300 Registration: G-BZZA

MAN-AGP
AEU Flt: 463

ETD: 6:00
ATD: 7:20

ETA: 9:00
ATA: 11:20

We checked in at Terminal 1 at 3:15 for the 6:00 flight to Malaga. We were informed by the check in staff that the flight had a 1 hour delay. We went to the departures lounge, at 6:45 we were told to go to Gate 9.

When we got to Gate 9 the aircraft was just arriving from Corfu! Then I saw our aircraft which was G-BZZA (ex Buzz), which has a white livery with Astraeus written down the side. After a 20 minute wait at the Gate we were told that the flight was boarding.

We boarded at the aircraft at 7:00, the aircraft had a purple interior. At 7:10 we pushed back and started engine 2. Once pushback was completed we started engine 1. A manual safety demonstration was done by the cabin crew. The captain came on to say a few words about the flight and the reason it was delayed (had a “tech” problem at Corfu). Cruising altitude would be 33.000 feet. Both pilots on this flight were from Australia.

After that we started to taxi quite fast to runway 24L. We were on hold for about 5 minutes while we waited for a BY 757 to take off. We turned onto the runway shortly after that. The Captain applied take off power and after a long take off roll we were airborne. After passing Knutsford and Cheshire, the climb was very quick. The seat belt sign was then switched off and the cabin crew commenced the in-flight service. In no time at all we were at 33.000 feet.

The cabin crew were very friendly and they came round with champagne cocktails. Then the hot breakfast was served, which was one of the best I have had on any airline. The first officer then did a announcement about the flight details. The flight was very smooth throughout.

After around 2 hours and 20 minutes in the air, a fairly steep decent was done as we were near Malaga. The flaps were set to 10 and after some tight turns we were on the approach to AGP. Gear was lowered and flaps were set accordingly. The approach at this stage became very bumpy, flaps 40 was then set. You could feel the captain trying to fight the wind, and we approached very fast.

The landing was late and we landed firmly on the left landing gear. Braking was hard and full reverse thrust was used, we turned off at the second to last exit. After a short taxi we parked up at a remote stand and disembarked the aircraft.

I was really impressed with AEU on this flight and would fly with them again.

Aircraft: 757-200 Registration: G-MONJ

AGP-MAN
MON Flt: 3831

ETD: 14:10
ATD: 14:20.

ETA: 16:00
ATA: 16:45.

We checked in at Malaga’s spacious terminal at 12.00 for the flight. Within 20 minutes we had checked in for the flight. I looked at the departure boards and our flight was on time.

We went to the departure lounge where the aircraft could easily be seen. At about 50 minutes before departure I saw our aircraft G-MONJ make a excellent landing. It was time to go to the gate.

We soon boarded the aircraft, my seat was 36 by the wing. The captain for this flight introduced himself and told us some details about the flight. The cruising altitude would be 38.000 feet.

The aircraft pushed back and the engines were started. We then started to taxi to runway 14 slowly and the cabin crew conducted a manual safety demonstration.

We holded for about 2 minutes while a EZY 737-700 landed. We turned onto runway 14 and the PF set take-off power. After a fairly short take-off roll we were airborne.

We made a left turn and had a nice view of the sea. The flaps were selected up and we made a quick climb to 38.000 feet. The cabin crew handed out headphones to watch the programmes. £2.00 and you didn’t even get to keep them.

Shortly after that, the cabin crew announced that they would serve drinks and this would be the only chance to buy them. Then the hot meal was served, roast chicken in a gravy sauce with potatoes and peas. The meal was great and just the right size.

The aircraft was in good condition from the inside. After the meal, the cabin crew came round with the in-flight shopping service. I bought a pack of playing cards. The captain then said a few words about the weather in Manchester.

The flight had been smooth throughtout. We started to descend towards Manchester. The captain switched on the seat belt sign and we started to approach runway 24R. Flaps were extended and some light turbulence started while we passed through the clouds.

A very smooth landing followed at MAN. We turned off at the bottom exit and taxied to our parking position.

The flight was excellent, cabin crew were very friendy. I have always had good flights on Monarch. I recommend them to anyone.

Thanks For Reading 😉

IF the image is the right size for this board, it’s straightforward…

right click on the image you want, go to properties, and copy (Ctrl+C) the address of the pic (it should look something like… http://www.aerosite.net/images/nationwide.jpg)

Then, go into your profile on this board, go to ‘change avatar’ (I think it’s in ‘personal profile’ or something similar), Paste the address you copied earlier (Ctrl+V) into the box where it wants the URL of your chosen image, press ‘confirm’ and it should work no problems.

IF the image is to big for posting directly on here, you need to right click on teh image, and select ‘save image’. give it a file name for your computer, making sure you know which folder it’s to be saved in (otherwise you’ve got to search all the folders on your computer for it after). Then, using a Graphics programme (MS Paint would do… it’s in Programmes->Accesories in the Windows Start bar), resize the saved picture till it’s within the boundaries of this board, save the smaller image (you can save over the original with the same file name if you want). Then, again, go to the ‘change avatar’ section as described above, select ‘Browse’, locate the image you want to upload so it appears in the space provided (should look something like C:/my documents/images/nationwide.jpg although it could be anywhere, depending on what folder you saved it in), and, again, press ‘confirm’ and it should be uploaded within a couple of seconds.

Hi,

G-BZZA will probably never get the full AEU livery because it has been leased only for this summer.

Fantastic report mate. Ive seen G-BZZA at LBA a few times now. Still no stars on the tail though. I have to agree the headphones are a rip off if you cant keep them. MYT and TCX charge about the same but you can keep them. And of course the best is BY which are free!!

Great report and welcome to the forum. I have been on almost every British charter airline I can think of apart from Monarch, and I really want to go on one. I love their new livery, it is 10 times better than the previous one, certainly one of my favourite liveries around (with Edelweiss and Air Jamaica firm favourites). I went on Astraeus to Egypt and back last year, and was very pleased with everything about them. At first I thought that they were a bit of a long shot, especially competing with airlines such as Air 2000 out of Gatwick, but I think that they have done very well for themselves and now they need to take it just one step further……

Great report Nationwide, I could visualise practically all of it as I read it. I flew in and out of Malaga with Monarch in May this year. I don’t recall paying for headphones, although it was a Monarch scheduled flight so everything was inclusive. Here’s a shot of my flight (G-MONE) sitting on the stand.

P.S. If you have a picture of your own you’d like to use as an avatar, then I can re-size it for you. 😀

Hello again,

I think many of us (including myself) get our avatars from Aerosite.net (http://www.aerosite.net) where they have a section devoted to 60 x 60 pixel avatar images.

Go to http://www.aerosite.net/avatar01.htm for the first of three pages of avatars.

Hi,

Thanks for your kind comments T5 :). The headphones were expensive, not a lot passengers were buying them at that price!

PS: Could anyone please tell me how to get a Avatar which is the right size? All the ones that I have tried are too big!

Thanks

Great reports – 2 airlines in one.. brilliant!

Not sure about the £2.00 headphones on Monarch though. You pay, but you don’t get to keep them? Not such great value. I don’t know if this is standard of all charter airlines.

I know Airtours charged us £2.50 last year, but we were allowed to keep them.

Anyway, great start to the forum, Nationwide Air, nice to have you with us.
