Managed to drag myself out of bed at 5am in-order to get good boarding cards. Checked-in at about 6am with only hand-luggage, and were given boarding card numbers 33 and 34.
Security was a breeze 🙂 , and we went straight to the gate, which in this case was gate 5.
It was an interesting Saturday morning for some, as the 6am KLM flight to AMS had been cancelled, so all the passengers had been re-booked onto other flights, most had been put on the BMI flight to LHR!
Boarding commenced at about 6.50am. I started to get excited at this point, as I do with all my flights, but also this was to be my first flight on a -700. I speed-walked to the rear stairs and took a seat in 18A, after being welcomed onboard by my fav F/As of all my airlines to date 🙂 , my Dad took 18B and C remained empty for the whole flight. At a guess I’d say the flight was 65% to 70% full.
While we were waiting to push back I watched BA(G-EUUD) and the BMI flight(G-MIDY) depart to LHR, and the captain came on and told us, amongst other things, that we would be cruising at 35000ft, with a flight time of 1hr 5mins.
We pushed back and began our taxi to runway 06. I took the opportunity to check out some of the night stoppers, I could only see a some of them, 4 Easyjet 737s including us, going to LTN(us),STN,BFS and AMS. A FlyGlobespan 733, going to AGP. 2 BMI Regional ERJs, 1 to MAN, Eurowings BAe146 operating to FRA for LH. A CSA 737 preparing for Prague. I’m sure I’m missing a few. One noticeable abscentee was the KLM Fokker, that would have operated the flight to AMS at 6am, which was, of-course, cancelled.
Once at the runway, I got a good view of the taxiways, that are coming along very well, and surely asre going to be finished before schedule.
We performed a rolling take-off, and the -700 noticebly wasn’t using as much power as my 733 or 757 flights of previous times.
I expected to turn right after take-off and head South, but instead we turned left to face West and then South, and boy am I glad they did!
We turned left right over the bridges giving me the most amazing view of them, definitely one of the best sights I’ve had from a plane. Not too many airports can offer such a beautiful view! I’m glad EDI is one of them! We then passed by the airport again and I could see an aircraft on the runway about to take-off.
The remainder of the flight was cloudy, only the odd aircraft in the distance attracted my attention. we got a couple of flapjacks, as I’ve heard good things about them, they certainly lived up to the hype! Delicious!
We began our descent into the cloud, and broke out of it late when on short final.
A very hard landing proceded by the FO, which caught me by surprise!
We taxied in and I saw the flight from Glasgow landed right after us.
Upon deboarding I saw Easyjet’s brand new aircraft B737-700 G-EZKE parked in-front of one of the hangers opposite the terminal, delivered on the 31st of March I believe. LTN itself was very basic, the walk to baggage reclaim was like a corridor of a hospital wing, and baggage reclaim in itself was very basic.
That’s it folks, no return!! 🙂 Drove back in a van! 😮

Hey hey – what a (kinda) coinkydinky. I saw my first moving EZY A319 last week at INV (G-EZED) and then 3 days later, Wingflaps2 and myself met up at EDI with Bmused55 and in she came to EDI too!.
Before this, I have only ever seen them stationary on the ground at LTN. I really want to fly on one of those babies!!
PS – this is Duesseldwarf – just realised that Wingflaps2 had signed himself in here!!!

I must have just missed you, I was there for about 10 mins as a quick trip right on sun set. I saw my first Easyjet A319, G-EZEF. No departing aircraft though. It sure is a great view. 😀
