Trip to Lanzarote – Loads of Shots!

Two weeks ago, on the 7th February, I started my journey to Lanzarote, for the 8th time in as many years. However this time was slightly different for 2 reasons: It was the irst time with my girlfriend, and I didn’t fly direct.

My routing was as follows:

Heathrow – Madrid Iberia A321-200
Madrid – Tenerife North Iberia A340-300
Tenerife North – Lanzarote Binter Canarias ATR-72

The return was a more simple:

Lanzarote – Madrid Iberia A321
Madrid – Gatwick BA 737-300

All for £115 inc taxes!

All flights were superb, very fortunately on time, and really no complaints. Iberia are professional, it’s just a shame there’s nothing in the form of complimentary service. The stand out was Binter…on a 30 minute flight they offered a small chocolate snack, a glass of water, a newspaper and a sweet. The cabin crew were very friendly, and flight crew even friendlier (more of that in a minute!).

Luckily for me, my girlfriend allowed me several hours over the week to take a divert to the airport for some shots. The results are in this thread, I hope you enjoy.

So to start, we have a wingview as we take-off from Heathrow. This made one of the top spots of the day on airliners.net today.

Next is another wingview as we cross the Pyrenees.

And here is the cabin.

Next is the A340 cabin enroute.

And a wingview as we turn onto the apprach at Tenerife.

And the cockpit…nice!

But here’s the best part, and one of the highlights of the week. The Binter ATR cockpit inflight at 11,000ft! 😀 On our way to Lanzarote, the lights of Lanzarote can just about be seen outside the window.

Shots from the week just coming….

Lanzarote one of the great places to visit in the canary island is one of my favorite and probably the most memorable one. I’m a heavy drinker and theres this one place in Lanzarote where they made the finest if not the greatest wine called bodegas, man that was very nice! But the main reason for my visit in Lanzarote is because of surfing. One of friends told me to go during the surfing season which is November-March and I did! And it didn’t waste my time at all and money well spent. I almost forgot It’s the most memorable place for me because this is here I finally met her! Happily married for 7 yrs now with one lovely daughter. I’ll be returning here anytime soon that’s for sure. thanks for bringing back good old memories with this lovely. Anyways hope this link could help you learn more about this wonderful island 🙂 ~https://www.canaryislandsinfo.co.uk/lanzarote/

Thank you again, for your kind words. It is very much appreciated!

Si, you really must convince your wife! It’s a superb little island, PM or e-mail me if you need any info. That was my 8th trip to the island, and I have very nearly booked to go again for a week on the 12th July! Flying out on TCX from Gatwick, and home on TOM. It’s funny, I’ve only been back 2 weeks and I’m already booking again 😀

Thanks again for your kind words.

Scott, you have to agree though that the British charter airlines do have the best liveries?! Something about them…brings back warm memories of childhood holidays I think.

All the way to Lanzarote and all you could come back with is a load of shots of Monarch, MyTravel and Thomsonfly?? :diablo: 😀
Fantastic shots Dan! An inflight cockpit visit on Binter – well, you lucky begger! Think I would have to go with the wingview of the Pyrenees for my favourite, but I also love the new TUIfly livery, I think they look better in yellow than blue!

Excellent shots, Dan, and I’m glad you had a good time. I couldn’t believe it when you told me about the mid flight cockpit visit on MSN, damn you! Then again, I’m sure you can recall my non-repeatable words. 🙂

Excellent shots and report.

I’ve got a friend flying on a Bangkok Airways ATR72 today and I’m a little bit envious. I’ve never flown on anything propellor-driven!

Great shots Dan – love the winter light! I remember talking with you last spring about your previous trips to ACE, and would love to get there with a camera myself one day.

Have visited ACE once before, but was only there for an hour or so, and didn’t get to leave the tarmac –

Cheers for all of your very kind words! It is well worth going to the Canary Islands and booking yourself a trip on Binter, and asking for a look in the cockpit during flight. It worked for me, and they didn’t seem to have any problems.

You may ask what I’m doing up at this ridiculous time of the morning? Well unfortunately it’s time to go to work on the busy bar at STN, so I’ll be back soon…
