Hi All,
I’ve been going through some old boxes that I aquired whilst I was an apprentice in the RAAF and came across a gunsight that I forgot I had. I will post a pic soon but for now can anyone ID it from the data plate details.
R.A.A.F
G.G.S MK. IVB G
IDENT No. E22/2909
SR No. 0327F
Thanks
Wardie

Another use of MK4B Gunsite
I’m guessing, but did DC just wet himself like an excited puppy ?
Writing this with clean and dry trousers! 🙂
I think that the MK4B Gunsite was also used in FB.11 Sea Furies.

Hi Wardie,
Coincidentally, I’ve just found a couple of photos I found of the Gyro sight on display with the Vampire in the RAAF Museum at Point Cook. Interestingly, this is identified as a 4E and is an RAF not RAAF item.
Dunno about the differences between the suffix letters, and the RAAF wouldn’t have had a lot of different aircraft using that gunsight in the era – the series two RAAF aircraft is here on the RAAF Museum’s list.
Didn’t the RAAF have a single, loan Hornet?
Hope this helps.

Hmmmm
Looks like Hornet is one use for it, but there must be others, as the RAAF didnt operate them!
RAAF Vampire would be a good bet.

It is fitted to the deHavilland Hornet! How much do you want for it. Would you consider selling?

Pictures of the unit.
I seem to remember that I was told it was CAC P51 or Vampire when I got it.
Thanks for your help
