Hello,
I am trying to trace details of a Lincoln Bomber which I think crashed near Waddington RAF Base in 1951/52 . ( 1 was about 5 years old at the time)
We lived in a row of houses which adjoined a field opposite the base and one night we were woken up by loud engine vibrations as an aircraft approached. It continued to get louder until the whole house started to shake and the roar began to deafen us. My father rushed upstairs shortly after and told us to open all the windows.
We heard a loud CRUMP sound in what seemed a few seconds later and somewhile later than that a terrific WHUMFF as the aircraft went up in flames.
As far as I can remember from hearsay most of the crew had baled out some time before and the pilot and co-pilot escaped from the crash.
In the morning we were able to see the wreckage of the aircraft about two thirds down the field from us. The back was broken and the twin tail fins were at almost right angles to the main fuselage. We could see it was a four engined aircraft despite extensive damage to the main section of fuselage.
I would most grateful if anyone can provide further info?

Question Trying to trace details of Lincoln Bomber Crash
Many thanks for your reply.
I think at this stage RF343 may be the right fit as we were in the row of houses on the edge of a housing estate and it looks the right year.
