To celebrate the anniversary of the first flight of the British Aircraft Corporation TSR2 on the 27th September 1964, the Newark Air Museum held a ‘Tribute To The TSR2 Day’ on the 27th September 2014. The Museum already had a TSR2 wing section and undercarriage door in their collection and this was supplemented on the day by displays and equipment and models and memorabilia supplied by a variety of organisations and individuals which were on show in hangar 2. The rear canopy on the cockpit section on loan from the Brooklands Museum had been cracked open a bit for a look inside but the front canopy would not budge. There had been no mention of it before hand but the BBMF Dakota put in an appearance with a nice topside dog leg pass over the museum.

A few gratuitous shots of the very recently acquired Dominie T1/XS726.

Nice work as ever Brian – it was good to chat yesterday; as it was with the other forumites that I spoke to! 🙂
The Dakota flypast was unexpected, although the museum had received several similar ‘topside passes’ last week, which reminds me that I have to complete NAM’s applications to the BBMF for the 2015 season!

Don’t forget our Aeroplane Icons special on TSR2 – a concise and informative account of the TSR2 story with lots of photographs and accurate scale drawings. Available by mail order, through Pocketmags too, and in some newsagents 🙂

Cool! Wish I could’ve been there.
