A Tupolev-134 of UT-Air airlines has crashed. A gear up landing has gone horribly wrong with the aircraft breaking up causing fatalities and injuries.

Looks like the weather was a contributing factor in the demise of the thirty one year old aircraft

The state of the Russian domestic airlines doesen’t seem to be too healthy. People keep criticizing the state of the airline industry in Africa, i don’t see how the EU has taken up this issue yet with Moscow.
Simple it’s Russia

There was thick fog at the moment. Are we sure the causes are known?. I would rule out anything for the moment.

Russia levies huge taxes on any western aicraft airlines want to buy. Its a shame.
A lot of the airlines have plenty of cash. But when faced with huge import taxes, buying new or second hand Boeings or Airbus’ is prohibitively expensive for most.
The taxes are an attempt to force Russian airlines to buy Russian aircraft. But no one wants them due to their lackluster economics. Would cost more that buying Boeing or Airbus in the long run. So they stick with what they have, which unfortunately is getting old.
A lot of them are managing to find way around the import taxes, such as leases. But this can be expensive still.
