TURKEY, RUSSIA AGAIN DISCUSS S-300
ANKARA [MENL] — Turkey and Russia are again discussing the prospect of arms sales by Moscow.
A Turkish military delegation led by Chief of Staff Gen. Huseyin Kivrikoglu was in Moscow meeting Russian defense chiefs in a review of defense and military cooperation. Kivrikoglu had been invited by his Russian counterpart, Anatoly Kvasnin, to discuss an expansion of relations.
Officials said Moscow wants to advance discussions with Ankara on the sale of Russian defense systems to Turkey. The current talks are said to be focusing on the S-300 anti-aircraft and anti-missile system.
Russia has already sold the S-300 to Armenia and Greece. Officials said the Russian sales of the S-300 to its rivals have dismayed the Turkish military.
