Turkey has announced a program to design, develop and produce a 300+ metre STOBAR Aircraft Carrier by 2029.
What we know so far from Turkish media:
ICDAS Shipyard has acquired a new dry dock which measures 370m by 70m for this sole purpose.
Turkey intends to field a CV variant of the TF-X fighter (or another fighter to be developed with ROSTEC of Russia).
TEKSAV Teknoloji, a Turkish company which produces Aircraft Arresting systems has been asked to develop the STOBAR system.
Turkey’s success in developing surface-combatant carrier escorts (AAW Frigates, MILDEN Submarine etc) has paved the way for the CV program

Turkey says the above programs will pave the way for an aircraft carrier proper.

Turkey is an unnamed partner in that program. Putin and Erdogan discussed this back during the discussions for the s-400

Russians are also planing to build VTOL fighter for their new carrier. Borisov talked about that earlier. So it is possible for Turkey to get modern VTOL which isn’t F-35.

News sources says that TAI is begging Russia for assistance with its TFX project.
Cite those “sources” like everyone else does!

One of the Euro manufactures should do like Russia and build in a levcon. A levcon gives you some of the performance of a canard except its clean with the wing. No extra angles and protrusions

An old article on the TAI TF-X when Saab AB was the pre-conceptual design phase development partner in 2011

It’s not upside down
The aerofoil on Replica is inverted compared to most (all?) others and generates lift more effectively in that orientation
The pilot is sat inside the fuselage (like one of BAe’s concepts from the 90s)
What you think is the canopy is in fact a blister for a huge combined EO and DEW system
You are displaying a bit of British humor, am i correct?
Cheers

Cool. Is the upside down jet a basic rendition of what a BAE 5th gen would look like ?
By: Bayar - 27th June 2018 at 12:58
@Deino If Turkish Aerospace Industries did that, the management would be charged with releasing misleading information seeking to manipulate the Istanbul Stock Exchang.
@EagleSpirit with respect, I don’t quite follow…
By: EagleSpirit - 26th June 2018 at 14:30
@EagleSpirit the above magazine article was written just before the Heads of Agreement was signed with BaE systems on 28 January 2017. That is, during the negotiations with BaE systems.
The BAE Systems Replica was discussed during the pre-contract study phase between BAE Systems and TAI well before 2017.
You would note that the TF-X indigenous design and development program prime contract between Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) of Ministry of Turkish National Defence and Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI) has been signed on 5th of August 2016. See https://www.tai.com.tr/en/product/milli-muharip-ucak
Hence, the magazine article corresponds with the time frame during which TAI began discussing the TF-X with BAE Systems.
I can’t help but realize you haven’t directly addressed a single thing I’ve said. Give me at least No 2.
By: Deino - 26th June 2018 at 13:39
1. That particular addition of the webzine is from 2016.
2. There is nothing that backs up your first assertion anywhere to be seen (please provide a quote from the webzine in Turkish that backs your claim)
3. Your following assertions seem to be baseless, optimistic speculation unless you have actual official documentation.
I must admit I would rate nothing official from Turkey in regard to these countless phantasy-programmes – or should I say propaganda – as reliable.
Just look at the trainer, which was said to be nearly done, a semi-completed prototype was boosted which in the end was nothing more than a crude mock up that now again several months later looks again very much different … will be interesting, how the next iteration will look like, when president Erdogan announces the next elections.
