which ever way you look at it, it is good news for Airbus

Thats the point Hand, whilst airlines operate with a mix of the two, its usually as one type is being phased out and replaced by another. BA for example will become an all Airbus fleet for narrow body and replace the Boeings.

As for has it happened before; maybe Easyjet? They have ordered both A319s and B73Gs, in close proximity to each other, though probably not at the same time.

That does seem a strange mix; I can understand people sticking to one manufacturer for the entire fleet, or a mix of manufacturers for certain areas of the fleet, but to buy a mix of short haul aircraft such as A320 and B737 seems very unusual.

Well that is what EZ is doeing actually. They are doing pretty well.
BA , AF , LH , UA and many other are operating a mix of 73x and A32x.

However I guess that is the first time that an airline place an order for both at the same time. Tell me if I’m wrong ….

Yeah, I suspected it had something to do with pleasing both sides. There can’t be too many other reasons I suppose.

I was about to ask the same.
However if you think twice , what do we have here.
Turkey wants dramatically to join the Eu. Therefore they want to please the consortium.
However they have to please the US as well because of the big US support , NATO etc….
