dark light

Turned out nice again

Thought I’d nip to a BBQ at Bourn last night.

Bit against the odds, there was quite a wind about.

Got off the strip with a little drama and found, not surprisingly, that the sky was a trifle lumpy.

Held 1000ft through the Lakenheath Zone with Charlie 130s trunding over my head. Asked for their wind and was given 21 at 270 (Bourn has a 24 runway so didn’t sound to bad). Felt it might be a good idea to apologise for my progress through the MATZ – my groundspeed hovering (good word that) around 50 knots 🙁

Great BBQ, well worth the trip to meet a few friends and scoff some remarkably good food. Watch out North Weald, your reputation for the best BBQ is threatened.

Uneventful 110kt return flight 🙂

Putting the Colt away, life couldn’t have been much better really.

Storming the beaches in a Colt? Sounds like fun! A very slow D-Day assault, they’ll never expect it. 😉

BTW, nice picture.

Thank you all for your kind words.

I climbed out of the Colt and walked over to unlock the hangar. As I turned around I saw this wondrous sunset building and couldn’t resist rushing to the car for the digi to bang off a couple of shots.

A chat with a passing local meant that I was there for a while. I can assure you it wasn’t quite that dark when I landed. Of them all this was definitely the best shot.

Plans for foreign flights?

Nothing at the moment. Mrs Moggy is not the World’s greatest GA passenger and was heroically indulgent on the trip to the Sabaudia fly-in (Italy) and France last summer. This year I feel I’d rather treat her to a ground level holiday which I know she’ll enjoy more.

June 5th/6th 2004 will definitely see the Colt in Normandy though 🙂

Smile after a flight? ALWAYS

Cracking shot Moggy, and delighted to hear the Colt’s back from her annual at last. I was wondering quite how long you’d cope being grounded before spontaneously combusting through sheer frustration! 😀

Moggy.

Superb photograph! Wouldn’t look out of place on the cover of a Richard Bach title.
