In September a large Turnhouse landmark “Joe The Pink Gorilla” will be leaving to be replaced by the slightly taller new EDI Control Tower…. 😮

Gentlemen, I thought that GLA vs EDI shenanigans were a thing of the past on this Forum.
They certainly won’t be a thing of the future.
I shall be watching this thread (and the respective antagonists) very closely from here on in.

I was just pointing out that at the moment there IS an aircraft maintenance facility/hangar at EDI Bmused. 🙂

I think matt was reffering to the plan Joe linked to. It shows a planned MX area where the Ingleston ground currently is.
Believe this was mentioned during the tour was given, along with Joe.
I think it is planned to build a maintenance area in order to encourage more based aircraft and basically build up a MX base.

Aeroscot Engineering have a maintenance hangar at Turnhouse, they service F-27 and Shorts 360 a/c on a regular basis and I’ve also seen ad-hoc work being done on Emb145 and BAe 146 a/c.

I see in an above linked image, there appears to be a large maintainence area. Anyone have more information on that?

‘Maintainance’ can mean anything aviation related, dare we hope for hangars to attract the based aircraft that are mysteriously missing from EDI?

It’s nothing to do with widebody stands! Clearly you can’t be aware of the fact that EDI is now overcapacity
It is “overcapacity” for about 4 out of 24 hours a day and that is a fact , but that can also be said of most major british airports. EDI will get its expansion but dont make the situ sound worse than it actually is!

So what will happen to the highland games that are played on that land?
The Highland Fair you mean….?
Kind of a car boot sale for cattle and tartan products. 😀

It’s nothing to do with widebody stands! Clearly you can’t be aware of the fact that EDI is now overcapacity, so urgent expansion of the terminal is needed. Although initially not onto the land at Ingliston a new pier is to be contructed on the SE apron, infact, looking at the pics on another EDI pic thread, it appears work may just have started.
Indeed, so I doubt the Ingliston site will be required for quite a few years yet.
