Turret Parts From Your Former Colony

The Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum at Creve Coeur Airport in St. Louis, Missouri has acquired 275+ 55 gallon drums (U.S. not Imperial) of assorted turret parts from the former Emerson Electric Mfg Turret Division. Most of the parts are for Sperry ball turrets, Sperry upper turrets, Martin upper turrets, Emerson A-15 nose turrets, and some TBM/TBF turrets. Some of the parts are NOS, some are “as removed” , and some are unfinished from the factory. Most of these parts are small, the bigger bits were probably melted down at the end of the war. We are working on sorting the parts and hope to have a basic inventory completed by the fall of 2006. At that point, we would like to start selling and trading the parts to qualified museums, collectors, and restoration shops who need the parts for a specific project. Our museum’s primary focus is on antique aircraft so if you have some parts that you would like to trade, please send me a PM. A good start would be some spare engine parts for our DH Dragon Rapide or maybe some parts for my 1967 Austin FX4 London cab 😮 . Here is a link with a few photos of some of the parts. As you can see it’s a real jumble but if you need some turret parts, we might have what you need. Please do not send email requests to the museum, send me a PM and I will give you a direct contact email for myself. I look forward to your emails and will do my best to reply quickly.
Thanks,
Albert Stix Jr.

TAM needs compete Martin 250CE Turret

It was encouraging to hear there may be parts for Martin upper turrets. The Toronto Aerospace Museum (TAM) is in the process of restoring a Lancaster Mk X (FM104) and is in need of a complete Martin 250CE upper turret for restoration and once acquired could also 🙂 be in need of completion parts. If any of your contacts have a turret we would certainly be interested.

Peter/Al–

Martin upper turrets? 250CEs that is? Late production Lanc Xs had those…Toronto’s FM104 springs instantly to mind as TAM are restoring her in 1945 configuration, but she’s currently a top-turretless 10MR…Not sure what the plans are for the Edmundston and Windsor Lancs but that could be of interest to those groups as well…

Cheers
