Can anybody tell me if the turret rings on FN50 (mid-upper) turrets and FN5 (nose turrets) are the same size?? Are there any original Stirling turrets surviving???

Yes, I quoted the figure from AP1659A, but AP2799 (FN150) uses the same dimension so I doubt it’s a mistake.
I think it depends which bit of what you are measuring: fixed ring, revolving ring, gear ring, inner diameter, outer diameter, etc.
To confuse things even more, here are the measurements from an original Nash & Thompson brochure:-

Hi Martin
If Alan is going by the reference in the AP, it’s incorrect. We found this out when trying to fit FN5 chordal stiffeners into a 34.5″ ring, they just won’t go. FN5 and FN50 have 36″ turret rings

Yes they are. The ’50 was developed from the ‘5.
Dunno about surviving turrets though.
