Turrets

The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby is looking at expanding its turret collection and would like any contacts available with collectors or restorers who may be open to selling any turrets or projects. Please reply, PM or email at andrew@lincsaviation.co.uk if you have any thoughts.

You can always ask the RAF Museum. Their storage faciltity at Stafford holds about a dozen turrets going nowhere, including BP type E’s as used on the Halifax and Liberator.

We currently have a Martin ce250 in restoration. An FN150 and FN20 to be restored and a couple of other turrets on the horizon. We would love to have some other Bomber Command turrets including BP types if there are any out there or any that may possibly be available to be loaned to the Centre. It would also be good to know of any of you who may be able to help with parts and advice for the FN150 and FN20 restorations.

Perhaps Elvington have some spares left. Visited them in November and the turret collection is magnificent.

Yes, that was Fred. I did an article about him for Aviation History magazine and have all his contact info if anybody wants to email me at stephwilkinson@verizon.net. (Send me a PM and I probably won’t notice it for months…)

Jack, sounds like Fred Biesler (?). We would love to get hold of an FN20 or FN120/121
