TWA 800 & Egyptair?

LAST EDITED ON 11-Jan-01 AT 11:37 PM (GMT)[p]
Hi!!! Apologies if this is not really think kind of thing that you guys like to discuss here, but does anyone know yet conclusively what happened to these aircraft? Peronally, in the case of TWA 800, I never bought the “centre fuel tank exploding-blowing the nose off and the aircraft climbing another few thousand feet despite the enourmous and impossible drag from the cavernous fuselage” gig and think that something else happened. For instance, what happened about the (several including pilots testimonies) stories of people witnessing an object streak throught the sky in the vicinity of 800’s flightpath? Also, I was’nt truly satisfied with the line about the Egyptair crash either… They said that “it dived at full power, reaching supersonic speed and then climbed again before crashing into the sea”. Could this happen? I would have thought that supposing the engines had (very unlikely) not flamed out, the wings would have broken up far before anything near Mach One was reached and again, even if this did not happen I’m sure that the wings would be torn off under the excessive G forces on the pull-out. I would welcome any comments on this subject, any theories and especially any conclusive evidence as to what happened to both aircraft. What do you think? Am I wrong? Were the theories proved to be true? Thanks, Paul.

RE: TWA 800 & Egyptair?

I have talked to a pilot and make some comments about Gulf air crash and he told me that it wasn´t odd at all. Its really feasibly on landing at low speed, over running the runway, for poor visibility. If the plane is too low and with a low speed if you try to pull up and regain altitude, the plane needs space to go up. So close to the sea its feasible that it might hit the the water on trying to go up again, unbalance the place and make it stall. Or simply stall due to loss of sustentation (is that called like this is Enlglish?)

RE: TWA 800 & Egyptair?

An interesting yet morbid subject concerning TWA800 and egyptair 767. I have seen Black Box on discovery wings were it has a special programme on TWA 800, there was a young couple taking photos, on developing the photos, the women saw a strange cylindrical object in the background sky of the photo, it was shown to investigators who threw the theory of a missile hitting the 747 out the window, I agree that there has been some kind of cover up although it has been reported that even some older 737-200s had poor wiring near the fuel tanks which could cause and arc, so perhaps it did happen to the 747, just seems strange that it climed without the cockpit…all that drag etc.

as for the 767 of egytair, this to me is even more disturbing, I cant see a pilot putting his plane into a dive to kill everyone, and I have not read anything to suggest there was a technical problem with the plane, its a mystery….but what about the recent Gulf air A320 that crashed into the sea off bahrain, is it not strange that american divers were soon in the sea searching for state secrets which were supposedly on board the plane ??? any comments.

Well, I don´t know what to say. But everthing is too odd.
I go for the missile theory in TW800 and stabilizators malfunction in MS (due to manufacturer failure).
