Shot this blurry pic in April arriving from STL into DFW. Notice the paint peeling off the 752 tail to expose the old TWA colors… 🙂

I never flew TWA but I liked them and wished I had!!

All ex TW birds still have the original reg#s and little TWA stickers on some of the planes…in regards to the engines…it made sense for them to ditch the PW since the majority of the ‘Evil Empire’s” 757s have RR and had totally different conifigs on them.
@ Greekdude…I will look into the information. More than liekly your LAX-JFK was on a 707-131B.. as far as JFK-ATH..I will have to research more for sure. I have tons of old TWA timetables…

Saw an AA MD80 at Boston with the TW suffix to its registration – sort of heartwarming 🙂

Yes, that’s why they sent them to the desert, because the P&Ws are really good
Well, when you have 100 RR-powered 757’s and say 20 PW-powered, regardless of which engine is better (in this case, the PW); in order to preserve commonality, what would you do?
By: Speedbird744 - 8th June 2004 at 17:18
well yes and no…the MD-80s are all in AA colors now…AA also repainted 99% of the 752s but are now sending them to the desert since they have P&W and not those watered down hamster wheel RR 🙂

And to think, AA promised to Keep TWA going.
That was a no brainer! AA & Ual are the two biggest liars out there!

I like this guy already! 😉 Welcome to the forum!
well yes and no…
Everything else you said is precisely what I meant. All ex-TWA planes currently in service with AA at the moment, have all been repainted. Ones that are not currently in service, were not necessarily painted.
Perhaps you can shed some light on my situation, if you are a big TWA buff in a historical aspect. In June 1976, I flew LAX-JFK (more than likely the early morning flight) and connected to the JFK-ATH flight. On the return in August, ATH-JFK then connected to the last flight out of JFK-LAX (I think it was TW841). Were any of these operated by a 707 at the time?

they never promissed that…they promissed to keep the TWA employees and they lied to everyone….dead smack into their faces….. 😡

Are all TWA aeroplanes repainted now?
The ones that are in service with AA, all are, I believe. I’m sure there are parked ones still in TW colours.
