Tweets & Talons

Wow! That’s all I can say about what I saw earlier today. As I was driving home from school I saw a T-37 doing touch-and-goes at the airport where I live. I was driving along on a road parallel to the runway and he came along and did his thing. My favorite part is where they pull up at like a 60 degree angle. They climb so fast! Anyway, I got home, and I continued to hear the T-37 flying doing the runs. Well, my house is in the landing pattern and they fly over every few days or so. Well, the noise kept up and I began to wonder why he had stayed so long. I went outside and saw not one but TWO T-38’s. T-38’s have only been here one or two times before and usually just one, and they only stay for about a minute or two it seems like. These two practically put on a show! I drove up to the airport perimeter fence and just sat there and watched. The T-38 is one of the most impressive airplanes I’ve ever seen. It was quite a spectable. Loud like the 37 and fast like you wouldn’t believe. They too are very agile. Well, anyway, after the two T-38’s began to leave, they formed up and headed back to base. I drove home. I heard a loud noise again a few minutes later and what do you know, another T-37. So, I drove back out to the airport. As I was coming up along the end of the runway (beyond the fence of course), that T-37 pulled up almost directly over me. I could see the markings on the wings and two pilots in the cockpit (instructor and student I’d guess). I parked and he came around again and flew right in front of me and then did the same pull up and turn. I forget what its called. A former Tweet pilot told me, but I’ve forgotten. Anyway, he left and I went back home to type this message. Oh yeah, and as an added bonus, an old Sabreliner took off just after the T-38’s had departed. Quite a spectacle for one day I’d say. I’m sure you guys over in Europe see much more than this (i.e. Tornados, F-4’s, etc.), but where I live, something like this never happens. Anyone on here who loves plane as much as I do (and don’t we all) would’ve have been in heaven. Talons and Tweets are so much fun to watch. The Sabreliner was a nice bonus too. What a day!
