“….Set in the fictitious UK airbase of ‘Archbury’, the movie was mostly filmed in the States, though a second unit filmed establishing shots of the UK base at RAF Barford St John, about four miles southeast of Banbury in Oxfordshire….”

I was told by a US serviceman in the 1960’s that the USAF was using this excellent movie as a training film to teach leadership qualities.

I saw it in 1981 while attending Officer Training School.

It is of course your choice as to whether you want to subscribe to SKY or not.

This thread was to give a heads up to those who may have not seen this very good film. 🙂

I have 5 mainstream channels and 80+ Freeview Channels. Don’t have enough time to view all I want on those, even recording one and watching the other, so am certainly not going to pay for yet more Sky channels after just paying my £145 BBCTV licence fee!

Why do people subscribe to film channels?
You can buy most films for a few quid. Dambusters, 12 Oclock High. Got both for about £3 each. In fact I paid a tenner for Cruel Sea, Dambusters, Ice Cold and (one other which escapes me) in a box set. You can then watch at your leisure. Even new films go for a fiver in Tesco’s.

TCM comes with the basic Sky package. ie everything except for (Sky) films and (Sky) sports

Excellent film – highly recommended!

Opening sequence very evocative – inspired many people to visit old airfields!
