I just stumbled across this website that details both the film and television series versions of Twelve O’Clock High. I have never seen either the film or the series but really want to. Is the series available on DVD (or even still in existence?)
I notice that 17 of the 78 episodes were made in colour, so that’d be great. I guess the series was made in the USA so looks very little like Britain and Europe?
Anyway, I thought a few of you might like this site

As a bonus, here’s a picture of a Twelve O’Clock High card game I found on another site

Dave
It didn’t matter that Cailfornia looks nothing like England because as I recall, there were no (I hate to say no…but almost no, and I’m willing to be proved wrong) air to air shots made for the series. Unlike “Black Sheep Squadron” where they did organize air to air photography sorties, the 12 O’Clock High TV series used old USAAF film…a lot of stuf from “Memphis Belle” as I recall.
The Planes of Fame (Chino) B-17 was used mainly for shots of the stars entering the aircraft. I believe those scenes were shot at the Ontario (Calif) airport.
The series was a drama…there were so few “good ” airplane scene in it that I (as a 10 year old B-17 nut) didn’t bother to watch the series most of the time.

Dave – I have 12 O’Clock High (the film) on video, so I imagine it’s still available on casette or DVD.
(Have a look at Amazon.co.uk – http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/026-0810691-4296408)

A truly great film. Not too ‘rah-rah’ (if you know what I mean) plenty of grit and what else could a girl want in a war movie…Gregory Peck (Yummy eye-candy and totally at his best!)
Both Mr AiB and I watch it on video often, either together or alone.
The film always brings a tear to the eye as well as being really exciting.
Loads of B-17s and a great story.
Definitely reccommended to see.
