twin boom designs, can they still be useful on fighters?

to the armchair aerodynamic experts here…

can twin boom designs still be useful on fighters of this day and age?
in the past many British designs used it like the Vampire.
it seems that they were at one time considered for 4th gen designs too like this

what are the advantages and disadvantages of such a design for fighters?
