Twin engined Hercules?

Any one else notice this twin engined Hercules leaving Fairford on the Monday after the show?

Well, he was certainly FOUR engined as he taxied down the peri track – waving an RAF flag – which was a nice gesture. 😀

Then he stopped on the taxiway for ages – and then went over to the dispersal ramp and shut down – I assumed he had ‘gone technical’….. 😮

Maybe they just removed two of the offending engines and sent him on his way later…?? :diablo:

For years Lockheed was proposing a twin…never got built though.

I was asking about that on another forum but no one seemed to know:

Got any more details on what happened to this?

Promise you all it hasnt been touched at all, its just a trick of the light and angle of the airframe. Rob

I think you maybe right if you look at the props you can see where there are two together and you can just see where one ends and becomes the one next door.

Strange angle though, maybe it was’nt photoshopped ?

its just a trick of the eye… if you look closely you can just make out the top of the inboard Starbvoard engine… she’s a complete 4-engined Herc – just some very coincicental angles happening.

They probably sold the other 2 engines to pay to get in.
