Does anyone know anymore about this accident today ?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/6996860.stm
I noted a Squirrel operating over Glasgow, around 2.30pm filming the Kelloggs Tour of Britain cycle race which was in it’s final leg from Dumfries to Glasgow and would have finished half an hour or so before the crash…
I hope it’s not the same aircraft.

The other two on board are believed to be a school friend of Colin’s plus child…

Never thought i would have to write this
Words cant describe what i am feeling at the moment.
Proud to be a Scot he had such talent and sheer skill that it beggered belief he could litterally take a lump of iron and steel and make it dance.I saw the young Colin take the first steps that led to the top of what is undoubtedly the best and most entertaining form of motorsport bar none.
We will never know his like again.
To his wife Alison ,his daughter Hollie Words are never ever going to be enough. My heart goes out to them. I just dont know what to say.
His father Jimmy ,who I watched for many years, was and is a gent and to him, Colins mother Margaret ,Brother Alister and the rest of the family, my heart felt sympathy and condolances ..to lose such a son is awful but to lose your grandchild as well is beyond comprehension.
To Colin & Johnny and those others who have died RIP

I too heard this news.
While our thoughts are with the families of all pilots and crews killed in today’s accidents, let us hope that it isn’t Colin’s aircraft.Miggers
With the best will in the world Miggers, I think it’s beyond doubt that the aircraft has been positively identified as being registered to Colin McRae…

I too heard this news.
It was reported that:
“Police in Lanarkshire believe that former World Rally Champion,Colin McRae was onboard a helicopter which had crashed near the McRae family home in Lanark at around 4pm,local time.
The Squirrel helicopter exploded on impact. There were no survivors.
Formal identification will not take place until tomorrow”
It is well known that Colin has a pilot’s licence and flies a Squirrel and Colin’s website(see post above for link)is unavailable at the moment.
While our thoughts are with the families of all pilots and crews killed in today’s accidents, let us hope that it isn’t Colin’s aircraft.

I have just read on the Colin Mcrae forum the below.
Link to forum.
http://www.colinmcrae.com/thread.asp?int_thread_id=162
“I have just heard that Colin and his son 8 were on the helicopter when it crashed, this has not yet been confirmed yet and i seriously hope that it isn t true.”
The above source is unconfirmed.. Let pray this is not the case.
But if he was not on the heli i would of expected a statement to have been relased stating he was not present.
if this is ture, im gutted, RIP to a pure legend.
