Two aircraft collide in Polish airshow crash.

Just seen the horrific photos of the last minutes of the 2 pilots in question.

Shown on the 2nd page of the News of the World and there are photos in other papers too. What is worse is that on the NofTW web site they have the video of the crash too. A third pilot escaped injury but only just by the look of the video.

My sincere regards to the family of the 2 pilots and the other remaining team member.

Just a horrible business when this happens and there seems to have been a really bad spell in airshow accidents and GA recently.

The following link shows how close it came to being 3 pilots killed.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20551061/

Aircraft are reported as Zlin 50’s.

I have just edited the post to remove the video link as I had second thoughts about posting the link. Those of you who want to find the video know how to find it I just found that after posting the link that I shouldnt be posting it here. I left the photo link however in the interest of news and to show how close a call it was for the third pilot.

IMHO the images and video should not be aired until at least the families have been informed properly (and some extra time for the families to pass the word to close relatives and friends). I know for a fact that the footage of the Firefly crash was aired well before my father had been informed. He found out from a friend who saw it on TV. It’s just common decency to hold back that kind of footage and imagery – something the News media seems to lack these days it seems.

Hi David.

Put in that context no they are not any more graphic than those of war.

But they cant be compared to a war image as they are of a leisure pursuit gone wrong if you like.

We have seen pictures of war for many many years now and of bombings etc etc. But these usually get shown some time after the fact and the thing about these pictures was tha it had happened only a short time before and the video was of the actual moment when the 2 pilots died and as I said in the other post you can see the pilot in the air outside of the wreck.

Your original point well taken though.

Merlin – are the crash pictures any more graphic than the hundreds of pictures which have shown wounded and dead people in Iraq viewed on various media?

In this internet age, there is such a thing as too much information, but we can’t get the genie back in the bottle now.

Appalling events always happened, but before, we knew little of it. Now the most extreme, shocking or bizzare is beamed to us in a moment.

A comment on PPrune wasn’t well thought out at all.

“Jeez.

LINK DELETED FROM THIS POSTING

Here you can see both bodies in the air.”

Totally no need for this comment at all.

But Even more shocking are the pictures in the Mail on Sunday. On the 5th photo you actually can see one of the pilots in the air seperated from the wreckage.

MY question is.

Should newspaper be allowed to show pictures that include bodies or body parts in the papers they peddle.

I know that I dig up aircraft wrecks and as such should accept my fair share of flak regarding that but this is a fresh incident in terms of the remaining pilot and family.
