It has long been regarded that aircraft intended for Naval/maritime use (whether land based or not) tend to be two engines, is that still preferred?
some exceptions include the Super Entendard, the A-7, and more recent.. the Japanese F-2 (land based, but intended for maritime strike) and variants of the JSF..
however there still is a continuance of aircraft with two engines for the maritime strike role, such as the JH-7 series, Rafale, etc
what are your thoughts on this. In an earlier related post (which was on two engines vs single in general).. one person (forgot whom) said that it is “proven” that two engines are better for this role..anyone care to clarify?
