Gentlemen
There are two Jaguar cockpits for sale in Cronfer Metals, Chesterfield.
They are GR1 XX736 and T2 XX140, (the rear of which is in Faygate, West Sussex). I had a good look at the them the other night. They are in excellent condition externally, There is no seats, or instrument panels. The Single seat has good glazing throughout, the single seat is only missing its pilots canopy.
They need saving before they are shredded. As a cockpit owner I would buy one, but I’m broke, but surely some of you guys from cockpits fest could buy one.

Okay someone, now tell us the story about these ? It sounds fascinating why someone would want 22 of them ? And counting………….

My question is not completely unrelated to this, but I posted it in the miltary section and no-one knows.
This week I have seen three separate Jaguars without wings or engines being moved by private hauliers around the M25 London Orbital. They seem to be heading for the east or one of the ports in the east. They looks in okay condition but not prestine and all were still on their landing gear.
Anyone know where they were going ?
just come back from some motor racing at the former RAF bentwaters, and there are about 8 or 9 jags stored there on their landing gear, including one 2 seater. all are outside.
some have full canopies, some only a windscreen, and most seem to be just a fuselage with no fin/tailplane, and all the ones i could see were in scruffy light grey, some also still had squadron markings on.

GJD may have handled the sale through their website – but I saw it at Cronifers (Chesterfield) before it appeared on their website. :p
It was mentioned to Bill the same day, whilst retrieving some bits of Hunter XE597 which Bill was putting on a trailer for Mick & Bob. 😉

Not strictly true Mark, Cronifers southern dept’ handled the AV-8B, whereupon it passed into the hands of Gary Spoors at GJD Services, subsequently appearing on their website sales page with a price tag of £950.
For their current sales, clicky here………

Will all the Jags be life expired by the time they’re retired, or will some still be available with remaining life.
And would the CAA consider them too complex for civilian use?
I’d love to see one done up like Miss Demeanour on the airshow scene.

Where’s XX736 gone?
A visit up here on Tuesday found only XX140 at the site.
Anyone got a clue to where the single seat may have gone.
Anyone one here want to own up to a recent purchase………???

Chaps, like everything in preservation, it would be great if the people who are really interested in one of these cockpits contact the seller instead of a public discussion. Speculation on prices etc will only get the price to increase and the vendor to think he has something gold. A bit like what happened with the Blackpool Vulcan cockpit perchance? Feel free to PM me.

Pennies? They’re gutted! There are going to be a lot of these coming up soon enough, and surely there will be plenty more with rather more bits still attached!
Thought the Jags have had their operational life extended to around June 2007. Something to do with keeping all the spare pilots in the RAF off the streets I suppose. Heard a dire rumour that some of the Jags were being considered as CAS for the troops in Afgahnthingy. Doubt it would work though – too high and too hot for Jags.
